Does hell burn for all eternity?

Would a loving God burn people in hell for all eternity?  Suppose a 16 year old lived a life of rebellion, they forsook God and committed crimes around the neighborhood.  One day they tragically die, lost at the age of sixteen.  Would God punish that individual for trillions upon trillions of years, for sixteen years of sin?  Would this be fair?  If you were in God’s position would you burn that individual for all eternity?
