We are in danger of repeating the errors of the children of Israel who wandered through the wilderness for forty years. They were not satisfied with the way the Lord was leading them, when any trial or obstacle was encountered, the people of God fainted under the test, instead of putting their faith in an all powerful God. When we see our neighbor down the street who is as dishonest as the devil making four times as much money as us, yet we are the one’s trying to be faithful to God, we wonder why God is not intervening on our behalf. But let us not forget that the Lord has provided us a mansion in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where thieves cannot break in and steal. God has provided us a better country, even a heavenly. He has given us the gift of complete forgiveness of all sins. These two gifts were not purchased with silver or gold “but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” (1 Peter 1:19) An infinite sacrifice was made on our behalf, God gave us His own Son, so that we may be members of the heavenly family. When we are tempted to murmur and complain, let us look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy before Him endured the cross despising the shame.
